Aberdeen Cultural Centre will participate in a national virtual show organized by Canadian Heritage

Aberdeen Cultural Centre will represent New Brunswick in the IllumiNATION virtual show, organized by Canadian Heritage and broadcast on December 17th at 8 p.m. (ET), featuring Acadian singer-songwriter Lisa LeBlanc, with an original performance for this journey across Canada, following the Aurora Borealis and lights, the themes of this adventure. 

From December 17th to January 7th, 2021, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage, invites the public to be “dazzled by IllumiNATION, a virtual celebration of light in Canada that will feature talented Canadians from across the country. “This virtual show would not have been possible without the contribution of partners such as Aberdeen Cultural Centre.” 

Visiting Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Halifax, Moncton, Calgary, Vancouver, Yellowknife and Old Crow, Yukon, celebrations will take place through music, storytelling, skating, cooking, projections and acrobatics, by artists from all walks of life: Jill Barber, Annie Villeneuve, Jojo Mason, Chef Dominique Dufour, Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro, Chef Katie Ardington, Martha Wainwright, Priyanka, Rufus Wainwright, Theland Kicksnosway, Dr. Andrea McCrady and Gregory Charles, who will also act as narrator of this cross-Canada adventure. For her part, the very popular New Brunswick folk rock artist Lisa LeBlanc will be accompanied by George Belliveau, Ben Morier and Ray Légère for a warm and uplifting performance.

Éric Cormier, Assistant Director of Aberdeen Cultural Centre, says: “The Christmas Lights Across Canada program, now in its 36th year, has revised its programming offer for 2020 to allow Canadians to feel a sense of pride as the holidays draw near, and we are very pleased to have been approached to film the New Brunswick segment of this innovative national initiative”.

Canadians will be invited to watch IllumiNATION from Thursday, December 17th, 2020 at 8 p.m. (ET) to Thursday, January 7th, 2021 at midnight (ET) on Canadian Heritage’s digital platforms (website and Youtube account). In the words of the Honourable Steven Guilbeault: “Wherever you are, let’s set off together to discover the most beautiful lights in the country!”
