Hubcity Theatre presents: The Vagina Monologues

The Vagina Monologues aims to inform, inspire Moncton audiences
Moncton, N.B. – In the completion of an effort that began during COVID lockdowns, Hubcity
Theatre is proud to present The Vagina Monologues on February 16 and 17.
Featuring a selection of monologues from the titular work, first published in 1996 and written by
V (formerly Eve Ensler), as well as some from the anthology A Memory, Monologue, A Rant and
a Prayer, this production explores the lives of women and men shaped by their experiences.
Chilean director Nery Valenzuela hopes the show will inform and inspire audiences familiar with
the works and those who may be experiencing it for the first time.
“This play allows us to realize the shifts that have occurred regarding topics that were once
considered taboo or forbidden. We aim to present a fresh approach where I seek not only to
entertain the audience and provide an enjoyable time but also to offer them a thought-provoking
conversation topic to take home.”
The production explores consensual and nonconsensual sexual experiences, body image,
reproduction, vaginal care, menstruation, sex work and trafficking through the eyes of women
and men of various ages, races and sexualities. Humour, sadness, anger and regret are
explored on the stage through this important work.

Due to the mature nature of this show, it’s unsuitable for children or those who may find
the content disturbing. We suggest it is suitable for ages 13+, with parental discretion.
